BRIDGET NICHOLLS

ABOUT
I am a PhD candidate (ABD) in Sociology in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at the University of Windsor. My work brings together sociology, criminology, and animal studies to examine how harm is understood, governed, and addressed—particularly at the intersection of animal welfare and interpersonal violence.
I am also an Associate Fellow with the Oxford Centre of Animal Ethics, where I contribute to interdisciplinary conversations on animal welfare, ethics, and justice. In addition, I work part-time with the Animal and Interpersonal Abuse Research Group, a collaborative research initiative dedicated to improving outcomes for individuals and communities impacted by the co-occurrence of animal and interpersonal violence. In this role, I serve as Project Coordinator on a nationally funded research study, supporting knowledge mobilization, research coordination, and applied impact.
“What you have to do is to get into the heart. And how do you get into the heart? With stories."
